Dr. Gerhard Sonnert

Dr. Gerhard Sonnert is a senior research scientist in the Harvard College Observatory and a lecturer in the Department of Astronomy of Harvard University. He is a member, and former co-chair, of the Social Science Advisory Board of the National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT). 

His research has focused on the careers of women in science and on science education. He has been the principal investigator or co-principal investigator of several projects, funded by the National Science Foundation, conducting empirical science education research with the goal to boost science interest and knowledge among American youth. His other interests include the history of science and science policy.
