Prof. Dr. Christian Schunn is a Senior Scientist at the Learning Research and Development Center and a Professor of Psychology, Human Development and Learning Sciences, and Intelligent Systems at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Fellow of several scientific societies (AAAS, APA, APS, ISDDE), and editor-in-chief of the journal Educational Designer.
His research generally integrates perspectives/methods from various branches of psychology (cognitive, educational, and social), education (science ed, math ed, learning sciences), discipline-based science education (physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, economics), and computer science (AI, NLP). His current research interests include STEM learning, web-based peer interaction and instruction, engagement and learning, teacher learning, and improvement science applied to instruction. He has served on two National Academy of Engineering committees, K-12 Engineering Education and K-12 Engineering Education Standards. Finally, he has launched a startup called Peerceptiv that is based upon his research on technology-based peer assessment in high school and college settings.
