Justin Dillon is professor of science and environmental education at UCL and Guest Professor at Zhejiang University, China. He is the Development Lead for UCL’s Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education. Justin taught in London schools for 10 years before joining King’s College London in 1989, where he worked as a researcher and teacher educator, being appointed professor in 2009. In 2014, Justin was appointed Head of the Graduate School of Education at the University of Bristol. He then joined the University of Exeter in 2017 where he was Director of Research in the School of Education. He returned to London in 2022 to take a chair at UCL.
Justin was President of the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA) from 2007-11. He is President of the National Association for Environmental Education and a trustee of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom. He was given ‘The Outstanding Contributions to Research in Environmental Education Award’ by the North American Association for Environmental Education in 2013 and was recently presented with a Mariano Gago lifetime achievement award by Ecsite, the European association for science and discovery centres, for his commitment to science engagement.
