Milagros Sáinz is the director of the Gender and ICT research group (GENTIC) at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute of the UOC. She received her doctorate degree in Social Psychology from the National University of Distance Education (UNED) and a degree in Psychology from the University of Salamanca. As a researcher, she is an expert in the study of the influence of gender roles and stereotypes on study choices; gender stereotypes about ability self-concepts, achievement and task-choices; and the gendered construction of professional careers, with a particular focus on STEM fields. In relation to these lines of research, she has published her work in outstanding international journal articles. She has led more than 10 competitive projects and has had an advisory role in several national and international organizations such as United Nations Women or South African National Research Foundation. She has been a pre-doctoral research fellow at the University of Stanford and the Technology University of Berlin, as well as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan with mobility grants funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education (José Castillejo) and the Generalitat of Catalunya (BE).
